Introduction

This post serves as an introduction to Hotel Zero: who we are, what we stand for, and what to expect from us going forward.

Today we’re opening the doors officially.

Hotel Zero is an independent offensive security research entity focused on red team operations, adversary emulation, malware development, and evasion research. This is our space to publish work, release tooling, and contribute to the offensive security community in a meaningful way.

Our mission

The offensive security landscape moves fast. New defenses, new detections, new constraints. Staying ahead of that requires more than following public research - it requires building, testing, and pushing boundaries with real operational thinking behind it.

Hotel Zero is a research group, not a company. We’re not driven by deliverables or deadlines, we’re driven by curiosity and a genuine interest in pushing offensive security forward. We exist to do the work, share it openly, and contribute back to the community that shaped us and gave us so much.

That contribution takes two forms. First, open source tooling - offensive capabilities built from the ground up and released publicly, because good tools should be accessible and because transparency in tradecraft raises the bar for everyone. Second, research - written up properly and published here, whether it’s novel or not. If something is worth understanding, it’s worth documenting.

We approach all of it from the attacker’s perspective. Not as a tagline, but because it’s the only honest way to understand where defenses actually hold and where they don’t.

Who we are

Hotel Zero was founded by Arthur Minasyan (also known as Mocha / Mochabyte) - an Offensive Security Specialist with a background in IT security consulting and red team operations. The entity is young and deliberately small for now. Quality of work over size of team.

What’s coming

We have tooling in active development that will be released publicly in stages - loaders, obfuscators, evasion frameworks, and more. Each release will come with a proper technical write-up covering design decisions, internals, and operational context.

Beyond tooling, expect research posts covering EDR evasion techniques, Windows internals, adversary simulation methodology, and comparative capability assessments of modern defensive platforms. This is the beginning. There’s a lot in the pipeline and we’re just getting started.
